Trust In Your Purpose

It is hard to quiet the external noise that bombards us daily. The constant pull for attention can come from a million different directions. A child calling out to you, your phone buzzing with notifications from every app you use, the to do list that's miles long staring you in the face, its endless. Its no wonder that living in this modern world has made us feel less in touch with ourselves. How could we ever understand our purpose, our souls desires, or even how to take a step in a direction, when all we are exposed to, willing or unwillingly, is surface level thoughts and opinions of others?
I have found that people nowadays, feel compelled to do and be something grand. I myself have felt this way, until recently when I realized that we aren't all meant to be grand. Grand is an illusion that makes us feel that what we are contributing is valuable, significant, impactful and worthy. But what is more significant or worthy than the advice you give to someone in need or the work you do to create a safe family environment. The work that is done by you for another on a daily, microscopic level matters. Grand is not better than or more worthy than, grand is just grand. It is macroscopic.
As Rumi so eloquently details:
Stop acting so small.
You are the universe
in ecstatic motion.

So I challenge you to make some space in your life to re-access where you are going and why. Are you working towards a career or starting a family to gain a sense of worthiness and belonging? Or are you working towards a career or creating a family simply because you are living in a state of alignment with yourself? What if that career path fails? What if your family fails? Will you still have that sense of worthiness and belonging? Or will you be tied to chasing the illusive idea of success, achievement and accolades that come from the thoughts and opinions of others? Your power, identity, and purpose don't lie in the hands of others, only theirs do.
We can't look to the world to restore our worth:
we're here to restore our worth to the world.
Marianne Williamson
Trust in your purpose. It doesn't need to be grand, it only needs to feel right for you. Your purpose may be small, it may be grand, it may change, grow and evolve many times, just as you do.
